Biography
 

Johnathon P. Hardaway III is a Partner at Lord & Hardaway LLP.  Mr. Hardaway is a well-rounded lawyer.  A corporate attorney with an MBA, a certified sports agent, and a battle tested litigator.

 

Mr. Hardaway has extensive trial and litigation experience, defending and prosecuting complex criminal and civil matters.  Mr. Hardaway represents a roster of professional athletes, government officials, and corporate executives and is adept at resolving sensitive matters both in and out of the courtroom.

 

Before joining Lord & Hardaway, Mr. Hardaway worked for several years as an attorney with Williams & Connolly LLP, a top litigation law firm.  Mr. Hardaway has taught as an adjunct professor at law schools including American University College of Law and the University of District of Columbia School of Law.

  • Co-counsel for Mihai Alexandru Isvanca in highly publicized USA v. Mihai Alexandru Isvanca, et al. (2017), a case alleging defendants conspired hacked into the outdoor surveillance system deployed by Washington DC police to distribute ransomware.

  • Counseling government officials including Alaskan Senator Theodore Stevens in highly reported U.S. v. Theodore F. Stevens (2008).

  • Counseling corporate executives including NYSE CEO Richard Grasso in well known State of New York v. Richard Grasso, et al. (2008) and other C-level clients.

  • Member of trial team that obtained a criminal dismissal for three players State of North Carolina v. Collin Finnerty, et al. (2007) the highly publicized Duke Lacrosse false rape allegation case.

  • Member of trial team in David Evans, et al. v. City of Durham, et al. a (2007) malicious prosecution and wrongful arrest case against the City of Durham following the Duke Lacrosse false rape allegation case.

  • Advising NBA players like Tim Duncan, Grant Hill, and Ray Allen and Rickie Weeks, MLB 2003 2nd overall draft pick, during contract negotiations.

  • Representing professional football player clients including marquee veteran players and more than one half dozen 1st round draft picks in contract negotiations.

  • A successful dismissal before trial for a professional athlete charged with attempting to bring a controlled substance onto a plane and possession of a controlled substance.
